There's an interesting little story behind those dotted holes. I was doing a single row around the oval and I goofed them up. Rather than start all over I just kept adding holes and ended up with a pleasing result.
I did some matching panels on the inside as well as the outside, running the panels through the Cuttlebug after stamping them.
I'm very pleased with my leaves. This set is so amazing!
For the inside sentiment I stamped part of it in one color and part in another. Then I ran a bit of it over some black ink.
The main colors in my card are Pumpkin Pie and Brocade Blue. Does SU even sell those anymore?
Thanks for looking! I hope you enjoyed my little ode to Autumn!
Wow, Kim, this is amazing!!!! I love the leaves with the multi colors....what a fabulous effect!!! The piercing was actually a happy accident because it turned out really cool! She is going to love it!!! HUGS!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ang!!
ReplyDeleteReally, really ....... nice card. Love the color, design and I agree; those leaves are well.... lovely :-). I checked on the Stampin' Up website, which I have to say I am not real impressed with, and I did not find the Pumpkin Pie or Brocade Blue in anything. Shame, my son~in~law the Chicago Bears fan would love a card like this and in those colors. Pretty... thanks for sharing that.
ReplyDeleteTotally fab card, gorgeous leaves. I love the way you have coloured them too. All your details make it a perfect card :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Teresa and Anne! It's a shame they retired that set.
ReplyDeleteTeresa, so much has changed with SU. I lost track of their colors when they kept coming out with new colors that were for a limited time only. Then they started switching everything around in the color groups and it was just too much for me! lol
I agree, Kim. They had a good thing going but it got to be too much and the changes were nuts. They have beautiful colors and paper and accessories to match but so much of it is punch, stamp a sentiment, maybe an image and glue. I don't look at their products so much anymore. But I love that set of leaves!!!
ReplyDeleteI look back at cards I did way back when and there was such variety. At some point it seems that stamping turned into card-making and it became an accessory-heavy business rather than pure stamping and artwork.
ReplyDeleteToday I spent time doing something I hadn't done in a long time: heat embossing. I used to do it all the time, but it fell by the wayside. I'm trying to enjoy stamping, real stamping, like I used to. I have so much stuff I can play with. I don't need the latest goodies to create.
